When I Heard About Her Dreams

Once I was walking way going to the canteen to buy some snacks when my two eyes caught someone's attention. It was a girl, stares her two friends while eating their own snacks. I don't know but my heart feels like almost crying inside. While seeing long this girl makes my heart ripped. Then I decided to walk towards their table wherein the poor girl was there. I sit bedside her and it's funny to see her reaction, like she's thunderstruck or something.I smiled at her. But then she ignored me. ''Maybe she's just too shy'', says my thought. I didn't feel like I was snobbed by her because I know she didn't know. In short, I'm stranger. I chose to smile at her and say, ''Hi! What's your name?'' And I laughed at my mind because she's so cute while staring at me shyest. She forced a smile and said, '' I'm Joyce.'' And my smile became more widened.
Her forced smile earlier turned into a real one, yes I can see it in her eyes.

I chose to stay there to make conversions with her. And I found that her full name is Joyce Ann Alagao. As she born on November 1, 2006, Joyce grew up in the world of poverty. She's 11 years old and she was in Grade 7 now. She's second among their six siblings and both her parents are jobless. They have a small dolly shop or sari-sari store that can help for their everyday needs but it's not sufficient. And sometimes they just ate once a day. I know that this kind of story id too common for like we Filipinos who's still encounter this poverty. But as she talks about her life, it feels like she never felt the difficulty and burden they have. All I can see in her... is a positive side. Even if there's no money... it's still okay. Everything went well because they're together. A simple but a happy family, I must say. I can't believe that Joyce has those kinds of fighting spirit that I never had. I had also experienced a lot of up's and down, like problems with my family, it's either financial or about family matter that make me feel down every time I had was all of those things. I have my money, not a lot but it's sufficient. But Joyce hadn't. Sometimes I can buy whatever I want and sometimes I can't. But her? She never had. It made me realize that even if you haven't everything, still you can be happy. I came back to my senses when I heard her lovely voice.

''Someday I will be a pilot.''This girl is really something. ''A pilot? You sure you will?'' I said between my laughter. ''Yes I will be... And that's the thing I can make my family happy. And there's no other thing moreover than seeing them really happy.'' How innocent she is as she says those words. And yes. Life is like driving an airplane. Sometimes it's calm. Sometimes it's hard to drive because of the weather. All you have to do is to go with the flow of life. As I've heard about her story... about her dreams, that there's nothing more than other thing as she can see her family happy made a smile placed in mine. It's too childish for others but hearing those words from a lovely and innocent girl has an indefinable impact on me. The bell rang. I was thinking about giving her some sort of money that can help her but when I did, she refused me. I know her reasons. She don't need a mercy of other people around her. It's not that my intention but  I understand her. ''I need to go to my class now Joyce and you too. Thanks for the time.'' I smiled at her for the last time and hurriedly run into my room because I'm going to be late. I feel happy to meet this girl Joyce, because of her there's a lot of things I've realized for certain.
